Trump Vs. Women

It just keeps getting worse… this news is particularly hard to take.

Trump plans to eliminate 25 violence against women grant programs as way to cut spending

Donald Trump’s staff has big plans to cut government spending, the most startling of which is a proposal to eliminate the Department of Justice’s violence against women grant programs.

According to the Hill, Trump’s budget blueprint includes cuts to the Departments of Commerce, Energy and Transportation, while other programs like the National Endowment for the Arts and National Endowment for the Humanities would be nixed entirely.

All together, these cuts would save the U.S. federal government $10.5 trillion over 10 years, but the discount is not without its costs to the American people.

The Department of Justice’s Office on Violence Against Women oversees a total of 25 grant programs, which distribute funds to organizations committed to ending sexual assault, domestic abuse and dating violence.  (Click the Link to Read More at News.Mic)

  1. Not really a surprise. Dude has serious issues. You know Russia is pushing a bill to decriminalize domestic violence…anything short of rape and serious bodily harm, I thought it was interesting given the executive order to cut funding for domestic violence.

I have been thinking long and hard about starting a radio talk show to discuss women and minority issues, current events and to empower women. It has been nagging at me for the last couple of days.

    1. unmaskingthenarcissist, I hadn’t heard that about Russia yet, thank you for sharing! Since my abuser was a Veteran I am concerned that we are creating a recipe for disaster here. Trump is going to send more military into war, creating more combat veterans with PTSD, creating even more cases of domestic violence on the home front and no where for those spouses to go for help. You should definitely do the radio show, I think that sounds like an amazing idea!! ❤

  2. Wow, I’m all for lessening the national debt but this is too far. Completely nixing integral programs like these is not an acceptable solution… It’s so sad that programs for women, the environment, and the humanities are viewed as so easily expendable. The American people are not a business and they can’t be dispatched because the current administration has streamlined what it views as valuable. That is where the fundamental problem with this administration lies – it seems as though they have never interacted with people who aren’t exactly like themselves; rich, white, Christian men who value money over most everything. This narrowed scope is proving to be detrimental to the wellbeing of our people.
